Good Day My Friends:
I've decided that today would be the day for some seldom hear jazz artists, both vocal and instrumental.
First up is Art Van Damme with Smoke Rings.
TThe Singers Unlimited: Emily this cut is by the beautiful vocal stylings of Singers Unlimited with Emily.
A favorite artists of mine is Toots Thieleman playing in concert with the song Bluesette.
This is The Real Group with Pas Me The Jazz.
Finally from The New York Voices this beauty that I actually used in a production with a group of teens and I sang with them and it was a most difficult song to get the harmonies right, but what a beautiful song. This is Silence of Time.

I am attending a concert here in Rochester NY with my oldest Honora in the Autumn Season to hear a group she ran across at a festival that pretty much flipped her out by the raw energy of this group called Too Many Zooz. Here's just a taste of them with Brasshouse.

Hey!
Was listening to this piece on a collection on Spotify, which was a cover of a very popular song and then two songs later another great cover followed it and I thought that would be a pretty cool Friday Music Set! This song was very vague to my ears and then I got it! So here's the first unique cut by Alt-J of a Bill Withers song entitled Lovely Day.
This is M. Ward with Buddy Holly's Rave On.
Here's Ricki Lee Jones with a Steely Dan cover of Show Biz Kids.
From the album It´s Like This. One of the best SD covers ever. Bad photo, nice song.
Sweet cover a Bonnie Raitt song by Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. This is I Can't Make You Love Me with a touch of Nick Of Time.
This last is a cover by the original artist with two friend helping out from the Dukes of September Tour. Fagen, McDonald & Scaggs with Pretzel Logic.

Want to start off with a tasty version of a blues standard with some sweet guitar licks, done by Bobby "Blue" Bland. This is Stormy Monday Blues. From France this is Sanseverino with a live rendition of Le Cigarette. A favorite of mine by the great Don Was is this little ditty titled Shadow & Jimmy.Shadow And Jimmy Was Not Was But then I have a soft spot for Was Not Was in general! Finishing up with a joint effort by James Blake & Bon Iver titled I Need A Forest.

Mornin'
I came across this really lovely live performance of Joni Mitchell singing Both Sides Now so I thought I’d share it with you all.
A friend on Facebook was discussing how much they loved Patula Clark's song Downtown and I said she re-recorded it a couple of years ago, and here it is my friends! Completely different vibe on this rendition!
A favorite song of mine down here by The Four Freshmen. My favorite rendition is by Stan Kenton Live At Redlands University. This is Here's That Rainy Day.
In remembrance of Jack Nolan's passing last Monday a fellow AOH Brother of many of you. We will be doing the Hibernian Rite for Jack this evening and I’m honored to be the Celebrant of this solemn Rite. This touching piece from The Avett Brothers is an interesting retrospective on life. Many of you know my oldest daughter Honora who recently graduated from Niagara University has been working and traveling around the country working with music festival production companies and got to do one close by in Buffalo NY on Monday at the Albright Knox Art Gallery, which was headlines by Beck. So here is the song she sent me that she shot of him on stage, which turns out to be one I really like. This is Loser.
From Lyle Lovett And His Large Band featuring Francine Reed, this is What Do You Do/Glory of Love.
This man is the reason I started playing Blues Harp. This is John Hammond with No One Can Forgive Me.

Good Morning Everyone!
First up is a welcome aboard to my friend Maureen O'Brien, this is her first time joining us for Friday Music. I have been rewatching the series Boardwalk Empire and during one of the episodes they had a Irish tenor singing one of my most favorite songs. I think the best rendition of it is sung by Van Morrison with The Chieftains, but this is a rather lovely take on it. The song is Carrickfergus sung by Louden Wainwright lll.
As long as were in Ireland, here from Northern Ireland is Snow Patrol with Crack The Shutters.
Now to Alabama for some old school R&R with the 1977 album by Lynyrd Skynyrd with I Know A Little.

Feeling on the quite side of life as I begin to put this weeks music together. Light rain falling with grays skies. So I'll follow that mood today. So here's a quite live piece by Ben Howard at KCRW, titled Depth Over Distance.
From my friend Gary Brumburgh who I met and worked with in our days at Florida State University. This is Gary's new album titled Moonlight. This sweet cut is What'll I Do.
Willie Nelson has a new album out with his sons of old country standards which is really nice but I wanted to share this live intimate singing between father and sons of a favorite song of mine, Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain.

Today's music is initiated by my oldest daughter Honora who recommended several artists I didn't know and I'm using one of them to kick off todays music and then three groups you may not be familiar with because she has inadvertently stimulated this Friday's music.
